RAFF DORIS W10
{QRFW10}
Doris W10 is a massive Angus Matron.
She was born easily at 37kg and is
as an impressive Angus cow as there
is. She exceeds a frame score 8 and
currently weighs in excess of
900kgs, carrying it with absolute
ease. Her milking and udder
qualities are second to none.
Her grand-dam was a Heifer Show
Champion in the 1980’s and was the
cow that went on to advance the
Doris Family through to greater
success for us after having a half
share interest sell when she was
just a heifer for $25,000. Sixteen
years later she was retired still
incredibly sound and athletic.
Her dam Doris S128 has been an
outstanding donor who has produced
several sires for within herd use.
She is sound, fertile and easy doing
that breeds well to any sire. A
Limited Edition daughter from S128
topped the inaugural Queensland
Angus Breeders Female Sale in 2007
with a Limited Edition granddaughter
of Doris W10 topping that same sale
in 2008. A son of S128 has also been
exported to Thailand.
The sire of W10, Raff Ultimate U27,
was sold for a Queensland Record in
2002 of $30,000 after being used
here for several seasons. He was
incredibly sound for such a large
bull that combined raw weight with
structural integrity, docility and
balance. Within his pedigree is the
very best of our Burnette lines and
stems from the infamous Burnette
A22. Raff Doris W10 is an Angus Cow
that some people may consider too
big to that of a "traditional" Angus
cow but we believe that these cows,
that keep fertility, temperament,
structure and do-ability in check,
are what the Angus breed is
currently in dire need of.
Congratulations to Greenlands
Pastoral Company, Ban Ban,
Llangothlin, NSW for purchasing this
great matron for $20,000, and
special thanks to Ann Starr of
Jackson Livestock & Property, Guyra
for negotiating the sale.
